- Description
Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE) is an evidence-based parenting intervention for caregivers and children aged 1-10 years developed by Susan Timmer, Brandi Hawk, and Lindsay Armendariz. This 7-week treatment supports families as they develop stronger relationships and learn how to manage big feelings and challenging behaviors. Core components of the treatment include weekly assessments, teaching, live in-the-moment coaching, and daily practice. PC-CARE certification involves three components: Phase 1 PC-CARE Skills Basics, Phase 2 PC-CARE Comprehensive, and Phase 3 PC-CARE Certification.
This selection is for Phase 1: Skills Basics. In this 1 day virtual training, you will:
Learn the basics of the PC-CARE model
How to use the free PC-CARE Learning Center to support families
Build confidence in discussing difficult child behaviors with parents and children.
Practice teaching, modeling and coaching evidenced-based skills.
Learn strategies for supporting parents and children through live coaching and feedback.
This training is great for anyone working with families to learn some hands-on effective skills you will be able to use with families right away. Upon completion, you will be ready to participate in the second phase of training: PC-CARE Comprehensive that can set you on a path to become a certified PC-CARE Provider.
However, if you do not want to become certified, you will still walk away from this training with tangible skills you will be able to use right away with families you work with.
This interactive workshop will be presented virtually and participants will be expected to be active participants. Through a mixture of teaching, discussion, and live role-plays, you will learn the PC-CARE skills, how to effectively share skills and information about child behaviors with children and caregivers. Trainers will offer breaks for participants in the morning, for lunch and in the afternoon.
